The gas-powered Escalade as we know is going away for 2025, and here is what to expect so far with the 2025 Escalade IQ.
When will it go on sale? The 2025 Escalade IQ will go on sale in the second half of 2024, likely summer of 2024.
What will the 2025 Escalade IQ look like? The most notable exterior updates to the new Escalade are taken from the current Cadillac LYRIQ, and feature a low, sloping roof line, that appears “chopped” compared to the outgoing gas model. “Chopping the top” is a phrase popular to hot rodding where the roof pillars are cut down to increase top speed, and create a more aggressive profile, which is true for this iteration of the Escalade, even though no “tops” were “chopped”. Other LYRIQ styling features include the gloss black grill, featuring dozens of LED lights. A handsome black roof, wheels supposedly available up to 24” and other contrasting trim round out the exterior of the new Escalade IQ.
What will it cost? Car & Driver estimates the entry level Escalade to start at around $100,000, an increase from Cadillac’s current gas-powered base Escalade of $83,000 to account for not only the cost to transitioning to an EV platform, but also the abundance of standard features that will be present.
Performance and features: The vehicle features independent front and rear suspension, a suite of advanced technologies including Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 and Adaptive Air Ride Suspension, and a 24-module Ultium battery with 800-volt DC fast charging. The battery pack serves as part of the vehicle's body structure, providing an estimated 450 miles of range and ensuring safety in the event of a crash.
The powerful electric propulsion system offers up to 750 horsepower, 785 lb-ft of torque, 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds, and up to 8,000 pounds of towing capability. It also introduces One-Pedal Driving, Variable Regen on Demand, and Ultium Energy Recovery for optimal energy usage.
The Escalade IQ comes with Super Cruise as a standard feature, providing a true hands-free driving experience on compatible roads. It includes a suite of standard safety features such as Blind Zone Steering Assist, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, HD Surround Vision, Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, and Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking.
What is the range and charging capabilities of the Escalade IQ? Using its 24- module Ultium battery pack as an integral part of its core structure, results in a remarkable Cadillac-estimated range of 450 miles, providing an impressive driving range. The battery generates over 200 kWh of available energy, the ESCALADE IQ boasts a flexible high-voltage architecture allowing for 800-volt DC fast charging. This rapid charging capability provides up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes, marking it as the fastest charging method currently available. Furthermore, the Escalade IQ introduces features like One-Pedal Driving and Variable Regen on Demand, promoting a more connected and engaging driving experience for customers. Additionally, the vehicle incorporates Ultium Energy Recovery, an innovative heat pump thermal system facilitating energy transfer between the battery and cabin power electronics. This maximizes range optimization, minimizing the power drawn from the high-voltage battery for the five-zone climate control system.
