You may not be familiar with the Buick Regal Tour X, which was Buick’s rebadged Opel Insignia Country, from 2018-2020. This Buick is considered as America’s last wagon, and in our opinion, unfairly overshadowed by European Competitors. The Tour X is still a great value today by being a lower priced alternative to its luxury segment wagons that featured a comfortable ride, tunable platform, plentiful cargo space, and handsome styling.

As spoken on by TV Series Motorweek here, the Regal lineup was renowned for its comfortable ride and solid handling, with all wheel drive standard in the Tour X. Its features are solid and plentiful, with Jalopnik praising its adjustable heated seats, ahead of its time radar cruise control, and over 73 cubic feet of cargo room with backseats folded down.

One of the (few) debated topics on the Tour X is its power output, the only engine that was available was a 2.0 L turbocharged 4-cylinder which put out 250 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It was mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard all-wheel-drive system contributed to its traction and stability. Some believe this is torque abundant 4-banger was more than enough to move the 3800 lb Regal, getting it to 60 MPH in 6.4 seconds. Others believe the Tour X was lethargic, especially when compared to its European competitors like Volvo, with various engine configurations.

However, the aftermarket support for the Regal Tour X is much more than you’d initially think, with exhaust systems and tunes specially designed for the Tour X on the market, and many other performance parts for other GM Vehicles that can be made to fit. Most notably, Trifecta Performance’s tune claims to add peak-vs-peak gains of +70ft-lbs and +33awhp” to the wheels of the Tour X. This could wake up your Regal Wagon if you had the need for speed.

When this car debuted in 2018, it started for under $30,000 and today they can be found all over for less than $20,000. The Buick Regal Tour X is an exceptional option for the price in a country that is crossover obsessed, balancing practicality, comfort, and quality all for an attractive price point.
